Biography

Elon Reeve Musk is a business magnate. He is founder CEO,CTO and chief designer of spaceX and is co-founder of the electronic payment firm PayPal. He also became chief executive officer of the electric car maker Tesla. He was born on 28 June 1971, Pretoria, South Africa. His father, Errol Musk was entrepreneur, engineer and investor. His mother, Maye Musk is a Canadian South African model and dietition. He also had one sister named  Tosca Musk who is South African filmmaker and one brother Kimbal Musk  who is South African born restaurateur, chef and entrepreneur.

Education

He briefly attended the University of Pretoria before moving to Canada age 17 to attend Queen's University. He transferred to the University of Pennsylvania two years later, where he received a bachelor's degree in economics and physics. He moved to California in 1995 to attend standard University but decided instead to pursue a business career.

Career

He is now the richest person in the world with net worth of $187 billion. He has a successful life. He was bullied as a child but ultimately attended an Ivy League University before going to become the the CEO of two companies Tesla and space X and three other. In 2002, musk founded space X an aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company of which he is CEO, CTO and lead designer. In 2004, he joined electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors as a Chairman and product architect, becoming its CEO in 2008.

One of his best investments was an electronic payment firm Paypal it was founded on 1998 December by 5 people, Peter Thiel, Max Levchin, Ken Howery, Luke Nosek and Yu Pan.

Best controversy about him, he had to face a lawsuit with US Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) with his quirky tweet regarding the privatization of Tesla at $420 pershare in August 2018. This was followed by millions of people across the world.

He achieved many awards and honors for his hardwork and contribution towards the companies "Tesla and SpaceX". Some of his awards and honors are- 

1) In 2007 he was awarded Index Design award for his design of Tesla Roadster and Global Green 2006 product design award for his design of the Tesla Roadster.

2)He was awarded National Wildlife Federation 2008 National  Conservation Achievement award for Tesla and SolarCity.

3)In February 2011, he was awarded the US$250,000 Heinlein Prize for Advances in Space Commercialization.

4)In 2012, he was awarded the Royal Aeronautical Society's highest award: a Gold Medal.

5)In 2014, he was honored with an Edison Achievement Award for his "commitment to innovation throughout his career".
